Fourth of July is just around the corner, and if you’re a regular reader of my blog you know that I have been sharing all sorts of fun red, white, and blue recipes over the last few weeks. Today’s post is a roundup of fun patriotic recipes that are perfect for your holiday get together!
Red, White and Blue Patriotic Party Foods
1. Pigs in a blanket – These are pretty simple. Just make them like usual, then brush with a little bit of food coloring before baking. We used blue, but you could do red as well.
2. Two step cupcakes – Cute and tasty, these cupcakes can be made by little ones in just a matter of minutes!
3. Dipped strawberries – Another really easy treat, these strawberries are just dipped in white chocolate and blue sprinkles.
4. American flag pizza – Sometimes it’s nice to have something more filling than finger foods, and this pizza makes a great centerpiece for your holiday party table too!
5. Fruit salad – Blueberries, raspberries, and star shaped cheese make a cute salad that’s good for you too!
6. Patriotic pinwheels – Yummy and adorable, these pinwheels are made with cream cheese, provolone, peppers and tortillas.
7. Layered party punch – A science experiment and refreshing drink, your kids are sure to love this tri-colored beverage.
8. Caprese salad – Mozzarella pearls, grape tomatoes, basil and olive oil make a simple, beautiful salad that is super delicious.
9. Twizzlers – No preparation needed here! Red and blue twizzlers make a sweet addition to your party foods.
10. Parent punch – Grown up cocktails with a patriotic twist, the same 3 ingredients make two tasty drinks for Mom and Dad!
Did you know that June 27th is National Bomb Pop Day? Bomb Pops are one of my all time favorite childhood treats, and we still buy them on a regular basis today. So you can probably imagine how tickled I was when they asked me to share some pops with my kids along with some other neat holiday party food ideas! The folks over at Bomb Pop and Publix sent us a whole party pack to celebrate with, along with 2 boxes of popsicles, and that’s where the inspiration for all of my recipes came from! WHen I was litte, my brother dug every single snap pop out of the box, and threw them on the ground while standing on a chair – it may as well have been a REAL firework, it was so loud – he was super pleased, and that’s all I can think about when I see snap pops, now!
My favorite 4th of July memory was when my brother and I were listening to music on our back porch while watching all of the fire works from the houses next door. We just sat and talked for hours watching all of the glitter and lights all around us. It was awesome!

Second would be years later – 2 years ago – took kids to Stone Mountain on the 3rd for the full festivities. Not nearly as crowded as the 4th and we were there from open to close. An awesome day.
My favorite 4th of July memory was going down to the bay with friends and family to watch fireworks
One year our annual family reunion in Myrtle Beach fell over the 4th of July week. From the comfort of our three-story house porch (across the street from the beach), we were able to see three separate fireworks displays! My kids were thrilled and we didn’t have to deal with parking etc.
I think mine was Monster’s first 4th. We got together with a group of close friends and watched the fireworks in town. It was so nice to just sit and hang out and all the kids had a blast playing around after dark with their glow sticks.

Last year, we were not attending fireworks because they started well after bedtime. Amelia’s cousins were in town, and we were just about to get her ready for bed when I decided we should go anyway. The kids were so shocked that we were being spontaneous AND obliterating bedtime! We piled in the biggest SUV with blankets and pillows and enjoyed the fireworks. They still talk about it! Sometimes breaking the rules makes for a perfect memory.
My favorite 4th memories are watching fireworks with my parents at their beach house. The neighborhood puts on one heck of a fireworks display!
Ahh favorite memory! That’s hard because I have so many! My birthday is on the 6th so we usually have something big going on! BUT my favorite memory of the 4th was in my teens in Colorado. I was way up in the mountains with snow up to my waist in the middle of Summer! Not many people can say they played in the snow on the 4th of July!
Every year we make new memories on the 4th of July, but I’d have to say 3 years ago sticks out – my 3rd child was just learning to walk and she got her first taste of watermelon. Then she nearly ate a whole watermelon all by herself. She was addicted! It was so cute watching her and treasuring those moments.

Every year we host a bbq with friends and family and afterwards, we end the night by going to our local fireworks. My most memorable memory is having about 20 of our closest family and friends joining us at the fireworks. Sitting together and laughing together.
I remember hosting a barbeque / pool party in our new house. We had my friends and family over. We watched the cities fireworks show from my backyard. We had a great time.

I was about 7 or 8 and experienced ‘fireworks fallout’ when the ash and little pieces of cardboard landed on us. I thought it was the coolest thing ever!
My favorite 4th of July memory is from 2002 when we got married. It was a hot and beautiful day. We got married in our backyard with a handful of friends present. Casual, t-shirts and shorts. Great BBQ followed. Lots of fun.

Mom made an Independence Day cake with white icing and blueberries and strawberries to connote the stars and stripes. It was so hot that day, that the icing and fruit melted almost immediately while outside.

My favorite fourth of july memory was the first one I spent with my [now] husband… We spent the evening with friends and had a blast laughing and enjoying each others company. It was a great night.
Mine is when we thought we missed the fireworks show because we went to the wrong place.. we ended up stumbling upon another one on our way home.
Whenever I went to the out of station with my family members, relatives and friends, we used to make these type of delicious food items. By sitting together we all will eat those tasty food items.
