Sweet Bananas and Honey Dessert

As you may know by now, my goofy kids are quite picky eaters.  (Okay, fine, so are their parents.  After all, apples don’t make peaches, right??)  I’ve already shared how the enjoy applesauce spiked with frozen peas.  But a secret favorite treat of theirs is one that’s actually quite healthy for them:  bananas and honey.  (or as my otherwise quite articulate 2-year-old son calls them “gananas”.)  It’s a simple, kid-friendly recipe that they gobble up every.  single.  time.

Here’s how we prepare it:

• Using a butter knife (or regular knife, depending on kids’ age), we slice a peeled banana on to a microwave-safe plate;  OR, if you want to get really creative, try this: take a needle, and poke it through an unpeeled banana down the side of the banana, in intervals the same size as you would if you were slicing – it’ll wow your young’uns!
• Next, drizzle honey over the sliced banana to your liking.
• Sprinkle some homemade pixie dust over bananas and honey.  (The NurturMe adds that extra nutritional boost.)
• Zap in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, depending on your microwave.  The heat warms it up just enough to soften the bananas and melding the honey and pixie dust in to the bananas – making for a warm, gooey, delicious dessert.
