Purex Baby Detergent + the Case of the BBQ Onesie + a Giveaway

I was delighted when I was given a bottle of Purex Baby to try out.  After all, my little red is quite a messy mister these days.  And he so graciously gave me the perfect opportunity to try it out the other night.  Let’s just say meatballs were involved.  And barbecue sauce.

That onesie didn’t stand a chance:

But, after a quick soak in Oxyclean, I tossed it in with a small load of towels, and used just a little Purex Baby detergent.  And voila!  Out came the stain!  Success!

More importantly, it didn’t upset my son’s sensitive skin, nor flare  up his excema.  And it’s got a nice, mild scent to it, too.  All in all, I was impressed with Purex’s latest product.

What is the best stain remover for baby formula stains?

    • Barbara says:

      Emily,

Good question. I’ve always soaked in OxyClean, washed with detergent and vinegar, and gotten most stains out that way. BUT, I’d love to hear if any one has other (better) suggestions. 🙂

  2. Screaming Pick Me Pick Me, everyone around me is pregnant this would make an awesome gift to go in a babyshower basket.

    • Barbara says:

Oooh! Choya! Great idea — every mommy could use a starter bottle for all those adorable little outfits they get a showers.

  3. I am not too good at doing laundry, so I don’t have any tips really! I just rely on really great detergents and Purex has always been a winner for me! My kids are terrible with stains, the boys are anyways, plus with another little one on the way… I would LOVE to win this giveaway!

So my question… how long before baby is born should I wash and “freshen up” all of her clothes that we have bought?

    • Barbara says:

      Kristy,

Meh, I say whenever you have the time, especially since you’re already chasing around little ones. If you have kids who are old enough to help, perhaps they can assist in folding and putting away baby’s new duds. 🙂

  4. I normally make my own detergent, but when I’m in a pinch, I’ll buy Purex because it’s inexpensive and works great!

  5. I love using Snuggle! Leaves everything smelling so fresh.

  6. Donna Burton says:

I have 5 children and 1 little grandson-Purex has always been a great alternative to my homemade. I pour a little right on the stain!

  7. Babies are messy!

  8. jennifer says:

I use purex and love it. It makes my kids clothes stain free.

  9. nichol tone says:

    I always pre treat

  10. Donna Cheatle says:

I use a half cup of Borax in every load. Everything comes out cleaner and fresher than with detergent alone
