As a mother of young kids, sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in a rut – whether it be at mealtime, household duties (ugh!), fitness, fashion, or all of the above and then some.  Sometimes we truly just trudge through in survival mode, doing the best we can with what we have, and feel accomplished in getting through the day in a somewhat sane fashion.

So if you’re at all like me, the title alone of this post just sent you spiraling in to an upheaval, complete with the childish on-the-chair “it’s a bug” dance.  What?  No one else does that?  Mmkay…

Ask the Orkin Man

Recently, Orkin  hosted a blogger event for Atlanta bloggers.  In exchange for sharing skin-crawling information during the event and in this post, I receive a form of compensation; however, all opinions and bad puns are completely my own.  I also wish to note, as I’m typing this, I’m listening to the clickety-clacky crunchy sound of stink bugs fluttering around my den.  Bonus points?? As a mother, I think it’s important to find ways to do “grown-up” things with other grown-ups, without a hint of kids around.  Ok, fine, sometimes I consider a trip to the grocery store good escape…  But now Buckhead has another great place for you to escape: Painting with a Twist.  Here, you can paint on a canvas, enjoy good music, wine or beer, and create unique, personal masterpieces they can take to their homes or gift to others. The artwork ranges from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of animals, iconic buildings and florals. [Read more…]

Hail to the Chef (Not Me!):

RaceTrac Fresh Food for Families On-the-Go

This weekend it became official: I am now a double soccer mom.  Yep, I’ve now got TWO kids playing soccer.  And I drive them there in my minivan.  In the suburbs.  OTP, even.

So we are always on-the-go.  Whether it be driving to or from school, preschool, the gym (dear Lord thank you for the gym!!), soccer practice, Daisies, Irish Dancing, church, or -what’s that place called?- home — we live in our van these days.RactTrac-Fresh-Foods_Soccer

(Truth be told, I’m writing this post from the comfort of my van right now, while my son snoozes and I wait in carpool line.  I may also be jamming out to Foo Fighters and Imagine Dragons at the moment, but I’ll never tell…) [Read more…]

Blogging for Ten Years + An Amazing Giveaway

**This post may contain affiliate links. I receive a small amount of compensation when you purchase from my links, which I"ll totally blow on waffle fries and sweet tea, y'all!**

RAYS-is-10

So my blogiversary won’t be until August, and then it will be my 5th year.  Five years of blogging, and I still feel like my learning curve is steep, yet also feel like I’ve learned tons in the process – not just about blogging, but about the world around me in general.  Yep, I’ve come a LONG way in five years, that’s for sure.

What you may not know is, I’ve built websites for years and years.  Dinky little “about me” sites hosted on UGA’s FTP juices, but websites nonetheless.  Let me speak old-school geek with you for just a bit, and to give you some perspective: the first website I ever created was my freshman year at Georgia, for an EdTech class, circa 1998/1999.  The instructor taught us how to use Netscape Composer.  Yep.  And then, my senior year, I needed to take a 1 hour credit course, for insurance purposes – and found a tech/computer class.  (Honestly, I cannot recall what the actual class was called, nor what it’s intent truly was.)  But that was the class were I learned HTML coding, which, to this day, is still quite helpful.  And I still have my raggedy, dog-eared handout chock-full of HTML goodness.

I digress.

My friend Krystyn, over at Really Are You Serious, has been at it for ten years.  That’s twice as long as I’ve been blogging.  She also has twice as many kids as I do.  She wins.  🙂  Not only do I enjoy her wit and humor, but I can’t help but feel akin to other non-reheads who parent redheads.  To celebrate her ten year blogiversary, she is offering YOU a chance to win some ahh-mazing swag.  One lucky winner will get: a Google Nexus 7 Tablet, a case, $25 to Google Play, a cute Minnie and Mickey Mouse wristlet and a copy of Best of Me on BluRay/DVD.  It’s simple, just fill out the form below, and you’re entered!

Good luck, y’all!

So last year, I was delighted to introduce y’all to Fisher NUTexactly snack bites – which were a delightful hit not just with my family, but with many of y’all as well.  Fisher NUTexactly snack bites are back at Costco, and I’ve teamed up with them again to share the news about their new twist with y’all!  I was sent compensation in exchange for sharing about the new Fisher NUT Exactly snack bites – however, all opinions are all my own.

Fisher NUT EXACTLY snack bites are now available in a new flavor combination at Costco stores across the Southeast, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.  And just in time for today’s BIG GAME!

Now let me tell y’all – this new  new flavor combination is absolutely ahh-mazing!  I had a hard time putting the bag away.  Even more, my kids, better known as the pickiest kids alive, gobbled these up as after school snacks.  This year, the NUT EXACTLY snack bites consist of roasted almonds and blueberries dipped in rich dark chocolate. Made with simple ingredients and no artificial preservatives, Fisher NUT EXACTLY is a gluten free snack that you can feel good about sharing with friends and family as part of your game day snack spread.

Better-for-You Baked Ranch Quesadillas

**This post may contain affiliate links. I receive a small amount of compensation when you purchase from my links, which I"ll totally blow on waffle fries and sweet tea, y'all!**

Baked Ranch Quesadillas

Yep, I used the phrase “better-for-you” and “ranch” together.  And I mean it, y’all!  I recently had an opportunity to create a recipe as part of the blogger program by Naturally Fresh® and The Motherhood, who compensated me for my time and the development of this recipe.   However, all opinions, experiences, photos share here, and bad puns are all my own.

So how on earth can I make “better-for-you” baked RANCH quesadillas?  It’s simple: with Naturally Fresh® Lite Ranch, which is made with Naturally Fresh®’s own nonfat buttermilk cuts the calories in half, and it’s made with real, wholesome ingredients.  You’ve got to look in the refrigerated section at Publix or Kroger to find Naturally Fresh® products – and you can also utilize the Naturally Fresh® App to find products near you.

With a little thing called The Super Bowl coming up in a few days, I thought baked ranch quesadillas – with my own twist – would be a great snack for any party.  Wouldn’t these be the perfect appetizer to serve?  More importantly, with a few tweaks, I created a better-for-you appetizer (or meal!) and gave it some healthier updates.
