Calculating Price for B1G1 1/2 offWant a quick and easy way for calculating price of an individual item when they’re on sale for “buy one, get one half off” (B1G1* 1/2 off)?

* – don’t get bogged down with all the couponing lingo, refer to this handy dandy glossary!

Here you go. Lets say the sale price is $3.99

Just multiply the sale price by 1.5:

$3.99
X 1.5

In this case: $5.985

Then divide by 2. ($2.9925 — which in retail land, rounds up to $3 each.)

Individual price for an item marked B1G1 1/2 off at $3.99 would be $3 each.

HOWEVER,

IF you have coupons, it’ll look a little different.

You can either subtract from individual total, or before you divide by 2.

Say, for example, you’ve got a coupon for $1.50 off 2 to go with this B1G1 1/2 off sale.

Then, you’d subtract:
$5.985
-$1.5

Which would give you $4.485

Then, divide by 2, which would round up to $2.25 each.

Also, make sure you know how to calculate sales tax with coupons, too – it’s not as straight-forward as you may think.  (But nor is it as complex as you may fear!)

Ain’t math grand?! 😉

Keep on saving!  :o)
