Grilling Up Something Good! — Applegate Organic and Natural Meats

**This post may contain affiliate links. I receive a small amount of compensation when you purchase from my links, which I"ll totally blow on waffle fries and sweet tea, y'all!**

Summer time is synonymous with grilling. With recent headlines concerning the quality of the meat you consume (…um, think pink….), you may shy away from the grill this year.

However, Applegateinvites you back to the grill this summer, just in time for their products to hit the shelves in Atlanta area stores. Available at your neighborhood Kroger or Whole Foods store, Applegate has a great selection of deli meat, hot dogs, hamburgers, and bacon. The beauty of Applegate is you know exactly what you’re getting with their meats: it’s all organic, 100% meat!

Since my son was born, and after seeing my three year old daughter try to survive solely on chocolate milk and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I have been striving to improve the quality of food my family consumes. With small steps, we are heading in the right direction, in part by switching over to organic foods, and making a conscious effort to cut out processed foods from our diet.
So, to go along with Applegate’s “true” meat products, I have collected some fantastic grilling recipes and grilling ideas for your enjoyment and experimentation, in part thanks to some of my fabulous blogging friends. As you may have gleaned thus far from my previous recipes and cooking ideas, I like spinach. So, naturally, I would find ways to include it here, right? :o)

What follows are my favorite recipes and grilling tips, both from my personal collection and from a few of my blogger friends.  Make sure you also head on over to my Pinterest board, aptly titled “summer grilling” where I am building even more great summer grilling tips\!

  • Health(ier) “Relish” – saute some onions, peppers, garlic, and squash (yes, squash) for your hot dogs.  And I **dare** you to throw some spinach in to the mix!  ;o)
  • Veggies on the Side– throw on some squash, zuchini, corn, or whatever you like, and keep it simple, just add a dash of salt and pepper, celery salt, or Mrs. Dash.  Thanks Mona, from Coupon Crazy!
  • Clean Up, Clean Up – when it’s all said and done, and you’re ready to clean up, do NOT use a grill brush. Instead, wrap aluminum foil around the tongs to clean the grill gates.  Thanks, Money Saving Michele!
  • Light and Fluffy – When forming patties with ground meat, keep it light. Don’t make too compact or pat too much – this lets all the juices out.
  • Grilled ‘Guac!  — Combine avacados with grape tomatos, onion, cherry peppers, garlic, and more for this fantastic recipe!
  • Bulk It Up – …you knew this was coming, right? Finely chop up some spinach, onions, squash, zucchini, and add it to your favorite meat; garnish your dog or sandwich with it. :o)
Take the guess work out of your ‘dog!

How ever you choose to grill this summer, you’ll feel at ease knowing what’s IN your meat.  So take the guess work out of your meat with Applegate.  And now that they’re available here in Atlanta, it’s even easier to enjoy your favorite summer dishes knowing Applegate meats are minimally processed; gluten and cassiene free; are natural, organic muscle meat; and use only celery juice and sea salt as preservatives — no extra “stuff”!

P.S.  I’ve made it easy for you to know what’s going on with Applegate; simply “like” their Facebook page in the box below. Rumor has it there are coupons available for Facebook fans from time to time! ;o)

I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Applegate blogging program, to earn My SocialMoms Rewards Points. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own. To read more posts on this topic, click here.

**HOT** Deal! NurturMe: (2) 18-ct Var Packs of Organic Baby and Toddler Food + Surprise 8-pk

**This post may contain affiliate links. I receive a small amount of compensation when you purchase from my links, which I"ll totally blow on waffle fries and sweet tea, y'all!**

So, I am super-excited about this deal through Plum District: NurturMe organic baby food!  Right now, through Tuesday July 30, you can snag NutureMe Two 18-Count Variety Packs of Organic Baby & Toddler Food, Plus One Surprise 8-Pack (44 packets total) for just $27!

I was introduced to NurturMe about a month ago at the Atlanta Baby Shower Expo, where I received sample packets of the apples and the peas.  WOW!  This stuff is AWESOME!  It comes in a powder form, so it’s super-easy to transport — just add water, milk, or formula.  Not only does it make feeding my infant son easy, but –tee hee!– it’s an easy way for me to sneak in extra veggies for my daughter, the Queen of Peanut Butter and Jelly.  I just add a spoonful of one of the veggies, and she delightfully gobbles it up.  Actually, she now asks for her “peanut butter and jelly and peas sandwiches”.

This is just a representation of the products, from a previous offer I had.  Spoon and bag not included.

And peace of mind comes in knowing that NurturMe is a certified-organic, all natural and gluten-free baby food made from nutrient-rich, quick-dried fruits and veggies. That’s why their food gives your baby better nutrients, provides you versatility and takes care of Mother Earth.

This deal through Plum District is ideal, not just for parents with infants, but also parents with young, picky eaters (I’m raising my hand here!) — AND it makes a great baby shower gift.  My sister isn’t even due until mid-December, but I already know what she’s getting from me!  Even better: for every voucher purchase, NurturMe will donate two 18-count variety packs to Feed the Children.  How cool is that?  SO make sure to grab this deal for yourself, and “gift” it to a friend, too.

Hurry and grab this deal before it’s gone:

NutureMe Two 18-Count Variety Packs of Organic Baby & Toddler Food, Plus One Surprise 8-Pack (runs through Tuesday, July 30, 2012)
